It’s not the start that Manager, Stephen Howson and Director of Football, Bill Prendergast would have wanted but failings obtain value. In his post-match interview after Paddock’s 4-0 loss to Haydock, Bill valuably highlighted that “the lessons learnt from these 3 games have been [spreading his arms wide] that much.”

The beauty of football is that when things go wrong, there’s always an opportunity around the corner to put things right. With Howson being “pleased with attitude in training”, a week of reflection and regrouping is what Paddock will be hoping puts them in good stead going into this weekend’s fixture against Newton-Le-Willows.

Omar Sinclair

This weekend, Omar Sinclair returns to the Stretford Paddock side to play his first game of the season. Paddock’s solid option at the back, Will Hobson, is unavailable this weekend so Omar’s return to the squad could not have happened at a better time.

Omar Sinclair has had an impressive career thus far. He played for Paddock last season but did so off the back of playing college and club football out in The States. In 2018, Omar played for Detroit City in the second tier of the US Soccer pyramid. He’s back at Paddock to work with Bill and reignite his footballing career.

Omar’s return has reminded Ste of the benefit Stretford Paddock FC has regarding contacts and links to other clubs. “Being able to develop players and then move them onto bigger clubs is the best recruitment strategy I have,” Ste explained. “Omar should maybe be playing at a higher level, but we can help him get there”.

Other Team News

There is plenty of team news this week but it’s a mixed bag. Starting with the positives, this week will see the return of central midfielders Dom Molloy and Kayode Adewale. Paddock’s midfield severely lacked physicality against Haydock and there’s no doubt that Molloy and Kayode’s return immediately fixes this problem.

It’s Dom’s brother Kieron however, where the concerns lie. Kieron sustained a foot injury after last week’s fixture and the state of his foot has not improved throughout the week. Kieron is one of Paddock’s key attacking outlets and therefore everyone at the club is hoping for a swift recovery and return to the side.

Newton-Le-Willows

Newton-Le-Willows are Paddock’s opponents on Saturday. The side finished 7th in Cheshire League Division 2 last season and will therefore know what to expect going into this season. Currently sitting in 6th place, Newton-Le-Willows have started this season with 2 wins against FC St Helens and Ashton Town as well as a 2-1 loss to title contenders, Bollington Town.

There is no doubt that Paddock will be in for another tough game on Saturday but Molloy and Adewale should massively aid the team against another experienced side. An area of opportunity for Stretford Paddock may be exploiting the Newton-Le-Willows defence. They have conceded 8 goals in their opening 3 fixtures. The likes of Joao de Andrade, Nosa Iyamu and Ronaldo Brown know that they can be deadly in the final third.

🚨𝗙𝗜𝗫𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 🚨

After last week’s loss, we travel away once again in the 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 this time up it’s 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘁𝗼𝗻-𝗟𝗲-𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀

📅 Sat 13th Aug
📍 Newton Sports Club, Crow Ln E, Newton-le-Willows WA12 9XE
⏰ 2PM
🎫 FREE#UpThePaddock pic.twitter.com/Vk8kmfEA9J

— Stretford Paddock FC (@SPaddockFC) August 12, 2022

As always, this week’s game is free to watch so get down and help Paddock get back to winning ways this weekend!

Newton-Le-Willows VS Stretford Paddock

2PM Kick off

Address:

Newton Sports Club

Crown Lane East

Newton-Le-Willows

WA12 9XE

By Andre La Barbera

3 games, 3 outcomes: a win, a draw and a loss.
