Stretford Paddock FC are finally back in action tomorrow as non-elite football is allowed to resume. With our league cup competition (Rhodes Cup) starting starting next week, this away fixture against Didsbury FC will be our last game in the division before its null & voided.

This will be Paddock’s first game back since our 6-3 win over Trafford United last year in December. We currently sit 4th in the Lancashire and Cheshire AFL Division 1 table. A win could possibly see us finish the league season top of the league, depending if other results go in our favour.

As for Didsbury, they sit 7th in the league after picking up 9 points from 8 games. In their most recent fixture, they drew 3-3 with table toppers Moston Brook back in December last year.

Everyone at Stretford Paddock FC has been eager to get back underway. Stephen Howson and the lads will be wanting to use this first game back as a chance to prepare the squad and gain match fitness ahead of our Rhodes Cup debut next week. However, everyone will be fully committed to winning the game in order to finish our league campaign on a positive note.

Manager Stephen Howson said: “We’re very excited to be back playing football. It’s sad that this game will be the final league game and we won’t get the chance to complete the league season, in our first ever season. But I am very much looking forward to the Rhodes Cup competition that follows. Although this game serves as a warm up as far as I’m concerned, it’s a competitive game of football, and we will be treating it like one.”

Unfortunately, due to the current government guidelines, fans are prohibited from attending this fixture. Once restrictions ease in the future we will confirm when fans are allowed to return.

In the meantime, keep an eye out on our socials and make sure you check out the highlights from this game on our YouTube channel.
