[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Stretford Paddock came into the game on a good run of form and the game against De La Salle was billed as a match between to probably title contenders so both teams were desperate to make a statement and it was the team from Salford that ran out 3-1 winners in a game of two halves.Paddock dominated much of the first half and saw debutant Stanislav Zheko opening his account to put the home team ahead after some good work from Cam Watters, before a lack of concentration and two late set pieces were the undoing of Paddock on the day, registering their first defeat of the season against arguably the title favourites. The lads were made to rue not being a little more clinical at times and suffering the second half collapse, no doubt the boys will be looking to bounce back next week against AFC Oldham and make sure that they will be there or thereabouts.

In other news, the reserves, development squad and U21’s all were in action this weekend too with a mixed bag of results with the reserves running out 6-3 winners having been down 3-1 at half time, a strong showing from Nairobi and the reserves displaying great character to get back into the game.

However the story was very different for the development squad and U21’s with the development squad losing 4-0 and the U21’s suffered a heavy defeat of 7-1 but with both being newly assembled teams, there was bound to be some growing pains and there is every belief that both squads will continue to grow and improve.A work in progress for all involved, and everyone at the club looks ahead to another week and another opportunity to get back on track and I’m sure the lads will be raring to go
