Tomorrow is a big day for Stretford Paddock FC. The boys will be heading down to Essex to face Hashtag United Reserves in their fourth preseason friendly of the 2022/23 campaign. Paddock will be looking to make it 3 wins out of 4 in preseason whilst facing the clubs most noteworthy opponents yet.

Leading the way

Albeit the reserves, even just playing against Hashtag United is a huge achievement for Paddock. Hashtag United are not only the biggest ‘YouTube Football team’ but they’ve made the outside footballing world take YouTube football seriously.

Hashtag United started as a group of friends who played in YouTube documented, exhibition style fixtures and subsequently gained a huge following. 5 years later, the clubs first team play their football in Isthmian League North Division – not bad for a YouTube side….

Well Into Preseason

On Saturday, The Tags are facing a Stretford Paddock team who are in the heart of their preseason. After 2 months off, the Paddock boys were met with a 5-3 loss away to Chorlton FC. They soon however, turned things around with two domineering victories on subsequent weekends beating North Manchester FC 9-1 and coming from 2-0 down to beat FC MS 7-2.

Saturday’s fixtures will be a tough test for Paddock since Hashtag United Reserves play 2 tiers above them. Hashtag Reserves last season finished as runners up in the Essex Senior League Reserve Division 1 meaning they will play another season in step 5 of English football. Ste and the lads will be hoping that the big occasion might just work in their favour.
