Season on the horizon

Stephen Howson’s men have been put through their paces this preseason. With high pressing a key part of Paddock’s play style, the club have played plenty of minutes this preseason. Though only Paddock’s 3rd serious preseason match, It’ll be the 8th match they play including warm up matches.

A win will help the club stride into the Cheshire League with confidence in their step. Manager Stephen Howson shared his thoughts on the fixture:

“I like playing Dukinfield as they represent the top tier of amateur football in Manchester meaning they are a great tool to measure our club against.

I think the first season they went easy on us which was not the case last season and I hope its not the case tomorrow.

I choose to play teams like this because I’m interested in getting better and that can only be done by playing the best.

Our form in preseason has been good and I’m keen to finish with two good performances first against Dukinfield Town and then next week against Baiteze.”

Dukinfield Town

Back on the 30th of July 2020, Dukinfield Town were Stretford Paddock’s first ever opponents. The birth of Stretford Paddock was met with a baptism of fire as Dukinfield put 2 past Paddock.

The two clubs would meet again a year later in another preseason friendly where things got worse for Paddock. A 4-0 thumping was certainly not an ideal way to kick off preseason however, Paddock went on to challenge for first place all the way to the latter stages of the season.

Paddock’s Nico McCreath will be looking to develop on his fantastic goal scoring record this preseason. With 9 goals already, the 17 year old will be looking to get on the score sheet and stop Dukinfield making it 3 from 3 against Stretford Paddock.
