Paddock Round Up

Our focus now turns to the exploits of the reserves and development squad who both had games on the weekend themselves.
Unfortunately, the Ressies were knocked out of the cup after a 3-1 loss against tough opposition AFC Middleton. The team showed great character and fight and had the opposition on the ropes for majority of the second half. An overall excellent second half performance but just couldn’t convert and were punished by a 88’ goal on the counter to kill the contest and dampen Paddock hopes. A tough defeat to take in tough circumstances with low numbers and players playing through injury playing a large part in the result. However, plenty of positives to take into the league for the ressies as they hope to continue making their way up the table.

In what was horrific conditions Paddock’s development squad great showed heart and character to come away with all 3 points vs Trafford United 2nds.

Paddock started strong which is now becoming a reoccurring theme of late but unfortunately none of the attackers where able to take their chances. For spells in the first half Paddock kept the ball well and for long periods of time but were unable to pull the trigger as they played their way into some dangerous areas with chance on goal. Paddock made changes at half time with Charles Frapwell and Brighton Fergurson coming on to hold the fort. The second half then became a scrappy affair with man of the match and el capitán Mark Dempsey thriving in the chaos. Putting in big tackles all over the pitch and getting box to box on a number of occasions, with a bit better finishing he may have walked away today with a brace.

With the game moving into the last minutes Paddock threw everything at Trafford and where paid off with the super sub Charles Frapwell finishing of a lovely move down the left. Paddock then had Victor to thank with a brilliant save to keep the clean sheet and take the 3 points home.
