Inaugural Season (2020-2021)
Stretford Paddock FC was founded by Stephen Howson with the vision of creating a community-focused football club aimed at contributing to the grassroots football culture. The ultimate dream was to make it to the FA Cup. In 2020, Stretford Paddock FC played its first competitive season in the Lancashire & Cheshire Division 1.The inaugural season saw the team playing home games at Droylsden FC’s Butchers Arms Ground. This partnership not only provided a venue for the team but also offered financial support to Droylsden FC during the Covid-19 pandemic. The season was one of establishment and learning, laying down the foundation for the future. Although the league campaign was cut short, a hastily formatted cup competition was created to conclude the season.

Season 2 (2021-2022)
The 2021/22 season saw Stretford Paddock FC come tantalizingly close to winning the league title. In a dramatic three-horse race between Stretford Paddock, De La Salle, and Moston Brook, the league title was decided with just three points separating the teams. Paddock found themselves nine minutes from championship glory as a win vs De La Salle would have secured the title, but the team ultimately fell short.Despite this, the season was marked by high-quality performances and consistency. Kieron Molloy had an outstanding season, ending the campaign with 20 goals and 6 assists in 22 games, earning him the Player of the Year award.

Season 3 (2022-2023)
The 2022/23 season was significant for the club's development, as Stretford Paddock FC became a fan-owned club. This democratic approach, envisioned by Stephen Howson, saw over 1,000 members signing up to become owners and have a say in the club’s operations. On the pitch, Stretford Paddock FC entered the Cheshire League, continuing its ascent up the football pyramid. Club captain James Oatt was recognized for his outstanding performances throughout the season, earning the Player of the Year award.

Season 4 (2023-2024)
The 2023/24 season was filled with promise and marked the club’s return to Butchers Park in Droylsden. The return of Droylsden Football Club after a three-year hiatus saw Paddock triumph in the Tony Downes Memorial Cup, winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw.Despite a strong start in the Cheshire League 2, the season ended in disappointment as Paddock finished 5th, missing out on promotion and silverware. However, Joao Andrade had a standout season, earning the Players’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards.

Season 5 (2024-2025)
The 2024/25 season saw significant changes for Stretford Paddock FC. The club partnered with Fused as its new kit supplier, moving on from Puma who had been with the club since its second season.Paddock also secured a new home, with games played at the Project Solar Stadium (Ewen Fields) in Hyde. The club also saw a changing of the guard, with the departures of club captain James Oatt and vice-captain Nosa Iyamu. Additionally, the club introduced a junior section comprising five teams, providing a pathway for young, talented players.
Saving the best 'til last, Stretford Paddock finished second in Cheshire League 2 and gained promotion to Cheshire League 1, where they will meet up with the likes of Daten, Egerton, and Clay Brow.

Season 6 (2025-2026)
The 2025/26 season is under way for Stretford Paddock, and while some things are still the same (stadium, kit partners, sponsor), new horizons are being explored elsewhere. The men's first team are enjoying life as a newly-promoted side in Cheshire League 1, and at the time of writing this we're currently a close second in the league table - an incredible start to our league campaign!
We're also thrilled to have launched a women's team too - headed up by coach Meg Stapleton and based at the Openshaw Campus. You can find more about the Women's Team over in the CLUB section.
While there's still the majority of the season still to come, one thing we do know for certain is that our members and fans will be right behind every single Paddock team all year long.
