REPORT: Stretford Paddock FC 1-0 Moore United

Stretford Paddock come out victorious by a goal to nil over Moore United after a resolute performance despite being down to nine men for the closing stages.

An erratic start from both sides saw limited chances in the early stages with both sides trying to find their feet with Paddock hoping to follow on from their emphatic 10-0 victory last time out in the league.

A brilliant passage of play between Iyamu and youngster Vic Iyumva, who’s eager to impress, on his first start for Paddock saw a change go astray after De Andrade was unable to bring it down under serious pressure from the Moore United defence.

Many more chances followed for Paddock who were comfortably on top although unable to find the net.

However, after the 20 minute mark a delightful pass from Nosa Iyamu split the Moore defence and found Joao De Andrade bearing down on goal before he calmly slotted into the bottom corner beyond the helpless goalkeeper. A goal that calmed the nerves of all Paddock players, staff and fans to put them ahead deservedly with just under quarter of the match played.

Iyumva continued to strike fear into the Moore defenders with his great footwork and electric speed however limited chances for both sides followed to close out the first half with Paddock in the lead and comfortably in the driving seat.

Half Time: Stretford Paddock 1-0 Moore United

Paddock returned for the second half with a point to prove and the aim of extending their lead. Continuing the pressure from the first half despite no real chances that troubled either keeper in the opening 15 minutes.

A professional performance from Paddock continued past the hour mark with only a few half chances for the home side that were easily thwarted by the opposition defence.

A great chance for Moore United came in the 70th minute with the ball being squared across the box before their number nine skewed his shot wide, a big let off for Paddock who lost concentration which was nearly costly.

With only ten minutes left to play an off the ball incident, during a Stretford Paddock corner, saw Ronaldo Brown given a straight red card, the last thing Paddock needed with the game not out of sight and only a goal to the good.

A composed end to the game from Paddock saw them close out a routine victory over Moore United although they will be disappointed that they were unable to make it more. A result they will be pleased with nonetheless as they continue to build on their good form as they climb up the table.

Goals galore as Paddock thump Wigan : Stretford Paddock 10-0 Wigan Town

In a game which marked the 50th appearance for Stretford Paddock Winger Joao De Andrade, who played at right back due to availability issues. Kieron Molloy scored a hat-trick as Paddock showed no mercy with a 10-goal rout against Wigan Town.

Nosa Iyamu, opened the scoring for paddock from the spot on the 10th minute mark. After collecting a lose clearance on the edge of the area, he was brought down following a driving run into the box, before picking himself up and side footing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.

Molloy doubled the lead halfway through the first half. Zak Bell played a long ball over the top of the Wigan defence from deep in his own half, Molloy running down the right then took the ball in on his left and rifled the ball into the top corner at the near post.

He then grabbed his second 10 minutes later, after being tripped on the edge of the box he shook himself off and took the free kick. A slight deflection from the wall wrong footed the Wigan keeper and he could only watch as the ball drifted into the top left corner.

Half Time: Stretford Paddock 3-0 Wigan Town

Nine minutes after the break, Iyamu played the ball to the path of Gavin Salmon inside the left of the box and with time on his side, Salmon’s side footed shot flew past the keeper to the bottom right corner, for the first of the second half.

Wigan fell apart in the few minutes following Salmon’s goal, and directly from the kick off, a weak pass between the Wigan centre backs was latched onto by the Molloy, to calmly finish one-on-one as he completed his hat-trick.

Again, from the kick off, a high press by Paddock was rewarded when Mikey Burke won the ball on halfway prior to a quick exchange of passes with Molloy. Burke curled the ball low into the net to add the sixth of the afternoon.

Later on, a Paddock free-kick on the edge of the box was cleared before the ball was recycled back into the box and a wicked ricochet off a Wigan defender allowed the ball to bounce in space before substitute Victor Iyumva spun and pounced onto the loose ball to score on his debut.

With three minutes left on the clock Shunugu Dutiro battled to win the ball from the Wigan central defenders, the ball fell kindly for the substitute as he blocked an attempted clearance, and as the keeper rushed out to meet him in the box, a deft touch helped lift the ball over the keeper to make it eight.

Shortly into added time a short corner was played short to Zak Bell, following some quick feet to get past the first defender, he was clumsily brought down in the box to win Paddock’s third penalty of the game. The midfielder then dusted himself off to slot the ball into the bottom left corner with the keeper left flat on his feet.

Paddock’s second penalty of the tie, was saved from Ronaldo Brown’s tame effort, However deep into stoppage time, Dutrio took the ball on the right and drilled the ball across the goal where Ronaldo slid in at the back stick to redeem himself and complete Paddock’s double digit rout.

Paddock punished in draw on Nosa Iyamu’s 50th appearance.: Mersey Valley 2-2 Stretford Paddock

Stretford Paddock twice came from behind, to come back with a point away at Mersey Valley, despite being punished for their slow start.

Less than a minute on the clock and a long flat throw was met with a flicked header in the box and Omar Sinclair cleared off the line at the back past for a corner.

The subsequent corner was whipped into the box and again following a flicked header was cleared at the back post following a diving header off the line by Sinclair, However the ball fell to the Mersey Valley corner kick taker and with the Paddock players flat footed the ball was recycled back into the box with a low cross and at the back post was prodded in to open the scoring.

Paddock was nearly punished again when Mikey Burke lost the ball in a battle on the halfway line and with Mersey Valley pushing forward the ball was played into the box, and after some quick feet from the attacker the shot was dragged just wide of the far post.

Burke then tried to drag the team back into the game in the first half creating numerous chances. With half an hour gone, the fullback was found on the right and a first-time cross was fizzed in, unfortunately for paddock nobody was there to get on the end of it.

A few minutes later, Burke took a free kick from the left corner of the box. His dipped effort over the wall was well kept hold of by the keeper low down to his right despite a small fumble.

Just Before the break Burke again took a free-kick this time wide on the right, his cross was well met by the head of Sinclair six yards out, However the keeper instinctively saved to keep the lead at half time.

Half Time: Mersey Valley 1-0 Stretford Paddock

In a rejuvenated second half performance. Iyamu marked his 50th appearance with a wonderful asset as Paddock equalised 10 minutes after the restart.

Callum Walsh who came on, for the injured Kristian Wall, in the first half took the ball from the right corner and drove into the box before playing it out to Iyamu, some smart play from from the number 10 to drag out the defenders allowed him to slide the ball back through into the path of Walsh who poked it past the keeper into the bottom corner.

Paddock weren’t level for too long however, as minutes later a free kick from the left was crossed into the box by Mersey Valley. The ball fall on the penalty spot and some poor defending allowed the ball to fall at the feet of the attacker who swivelled and with a quick swipe, drilled the ball low into the back of the net.

With a quarter of an hour to go Iyamu picked up the ball on the left side of midfield, and drove towards the edge of the box before being brought down just to the left of the D.

REPORT: TEK United 2-3 Stretford Paddock

Stretford Paddock FC embarked on their inaugural international fixture on a memorable Saturday, August 5th, 2023, making their way to Dublin, Ireland to face off against TEK United. The match garnered immense support, with approximately 200 passionate fans in attendance, including The Paddock Ultras, Howson’s Red & White Army, and the Stretford Paddock FC Irish Supporters Club, whose flags proudly waved together, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Initially scheduled at TEK United’s ground, Rockford Park, the match faced uncertainty due to heavy overnight rainfall, rendering the pitch unplayable after an early inspection. However, a new venue was swiftly arranged at Soldier and Sailors Park, just a short distance away. Miraculously, the pitch there remained untouched by the weather and was in pristine condition for the game.

The match kicked off shortly after 3pm, and despite TEK United being completely unknown to Paddock, the opening minutes were cautious as our team assessed the level of opposition before them. TEK United showcased their skill and pace, leaving no room for complacency. An early free-kick opportunity outside the box tested Paddock’s defence, with the TEK player hitting the post, much to the relief of our lads.

17 minutes into the game Kieron Molloy pulled up with a hamstring injury, just days after his brother had the same problem in the victory over West Didsbury & Chorlton. An injury which might keep him out for a few weeks – we’ll have to see how he goes. Two goals in two could be missed at the weekend. He was replaced by Joao on the left wing.

Shortly after that it didn’t take long for Paddock to assert their dominance and Joao to make an impact. A well-executed long throw from Omar, starting deep within his own half, created space behind the TEK defence, allowing Joao to deliver a perfect ball into the area for Ryan Katumba to calmly slot home, granting us an early advantage.

Moments later, Paddock further solidified their lead when Oattsy, the captain, skillfully converted a corner, creating a beautiful curling shot that found the far top corner of the net. The goal might have appeared unintentional to some, but Oattsy reckons otherwise – let us know what you think when the highlights are out!

With a 2-0 lead, Paddock began to play with more confidence and control, with some confident possession, mainly via Nosa and Kayode in midfield. Nosa’s brilliant footwork set up Callum for the third goal, as he broke through the offside trap and finished with a beautiful first-time finish. The first half ended with a flurry of shots that failed to find the target, but Paddock firmly in control, leading 3-0.

The second half brought a momentary lapse in concentration for Paddock, leading to two goals for TEK United, reminding the lads that no game can be taken for granted. Reenergized and refocused, Paddock regained their composure and reverted to their usual aggressive dominate style, delivering a captivating display of quick passes, off-the-ball runs, and well-timed attacks.

The match could have seen more goals for Paddock, particularly from the right side, where Callum built on his lethal first half performance and repeatedly found himself in acres of space and looking the most likely source of a goal. The TEK United keeper’s impressive saves kept his team in contention. As the game neared its conclusion, with TEK United players visibly fatigued, McKenna, unfortunately, sustained a hamstring injury, leading to captain James Oatt taking on the goalkeeper role for the remaining minutes. The third time he’s done this, and he’s never conceded!

Adam McKola made his erm, shortly awaited, debut on the 85th minute and had the chance to put the game to bed in the 89th minute – but fluffed his lines! Must see in the highlights!

The final whistle blew, and Stretford Paddock emerged triumphant with a 3-2 victory. The match proved to be a resounding success, showcasing a thrilling encounter and a positive result for Paddock. The warm welcome and hospitality extended by TEK United and Brian from the Irish Supporters Club made the entire experience even more memorable, leaving us with much to be thankful for.

Match Report: Ashton Town Reserves vs Stretford Paddock

A solid performance away from home saw Stretford Paddock collect all 3 points in a triumph over Ashton Town Reserves. Paddock, who not long ago saw the end of a 6 game win streak, are beginning to rebuild another.

The game was one of little chances, and Paddock had to work hard to break down a robust Ashton defence in the first half.

Paddock’s attacking quality prevailed and in the 29th minute, Joao swept the ball to the back post for Tom Jones to tuck it away; the third time those two have combined for a goal in the last two games.

Paddock went into the halftime break with the lead intact, however the opening minutes of the second half played host to an Ashton goal that levelled up the scoring.

In spite of the setback, Paddock grew into the game, and a couple of minutes after the opposition’s equaliser, Paddock found themselves back in front.

Man-of-the-match Omar Sinclair rose at the back post from a whipped corner to revitalise the Stretford Paddock 11 as they searched for all 3 points.

The second half saw an eagerly awaited return for Ronaldo Brown after his trip to Qatar, and Paddock prevailed in defence to keep their lead intact.

As the Ashton legs grew tired, a counter attack in the 86th minute saw Kieron Molloy tee up the ball for Abdullah Saeed to score Paddock’s third of the game, and ensure that the victory was secured.

A big win on the road keeps Paddock’s promotion hopes well and truly alive as we head into the Christmas period!

Match Report: Stretford Paddock 3-1 F.C. St. Helens Reserves

On a dark and wet afternoon in Wythenshawe, Stretford Paddock scored 3 second half goals to return to winning ways and keep their Cheshire League win streak alive and kicking. A freekick from Omar Sinclair, a penalty from Tom Jones and a weak foot strike from Kieron Molloy; saw Paddock go from being 1-0 down to eventual 3-1 victors. The YouTube side are now on a 6-game win streak going into a huge fixture next weekend against league leaders, Upton JFC.

The first half was, without doubt, F.C. St Helens’. The away side defended well when Paddock were in possession and often forced them to lose the ball through a consistent press. St Helen’s also enjoyed spells of possession themselves, creating a handful of chances.

It took the visitors only 5 minutes to go ahead, however. A freekick on the edge of the box allowed St Helens to get a cross into a dangerous area. Just like last week, Paddock failed to deal with their opponents set piece. A lack of communication between keeper, Vic Gimenez, and his men in the box saw the ball hit the deck and trickle into the back of the net.

With 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Paddock finally had a positive spell – often getting the ball into their opponents final third via Ronaldo Brown. Kieron Molloy, late into the half, put a 1-on-1 wide of the post and Paddock found themselves a goal down at the break.

Half Time: Stretford Paddock 0-1 F.C. St. Helen’s Reserves

Paddock came out better after half time however, whenever they tried to break the line and get the ball up to their attackers, the pass was frequently forced and rarely executed well.

It took until the 68th minute for Paddock to calm down and to ‘do their thing’ – beat their opponents by moving the ball. The catalyst – a wonderful goal from Omar Sinclair. A foul, right on the edge of the box gave Paddock a freekick in a dangerous area. Sinclair, after scoring from a similar position last week, was the only man taking this one. He whipped the ball over the wall and into the top corner.

Some great defending from James Oatt and Tommy MacFarlane kept Paddock in the game up until the 83rd minute where Paddock were awarded a penalty. The man who was pulled back in the box, Tom Jones, stepped up and hammered his shot into the roof of the net.

With just 4 minutes to go, Kieron Molloy put the game to bed. St Helens has committed men forward which, for the first time, gave Molloy space. A clearance from Brown was claimed by Molloy. He burst past his defender and hammered his trike past the keeper – 3-1 to The Paddock.

The Stretford Derby | Old Stretfordians vs Stretford Paddock FC | Match Highlights

Stretford Paddock ran riot on the weekend, dismantling Old Stretfordians 9-1 this weekend to progress to the semi-finals of the Rhodes Cup, to aid Paddock’s pursuit of silverware this season. This victory was Stretford Paddock’s biggest margin of victory in their short history and one of the most impressive performances ever. Seven of the nine goals came in a ruthless second-half display, representing the difference in fitness between the two sides. Setting up Paddock for a potential collision course with fellow top of the league rivals De La Salle in a highly anticipated semi-final clash..

Postgame, Howson described how delighted he was with the performance of his side and the ruthlessness they showed, something he has often been critical of this season.

However, attention now turns to the huge league clash next week against Moston Brook, where nothing but a victory will do in the toughest league game remaining this season, and we’ll have all the build-up to the game later on in the week.

One Club Not One Team | Stretford Paddock FC vs Manchester Polonia | Match Highlights

Stretford Paddock  progress to the next round of the Rhodes Cup, but they did make hard work of it, only being able to settle the tie in the dying embers of the game, something that has become a force of habit for Howson’s men this year. The playing conditions were far from ideal as it was touch and go, whether the game was even going to go ahead, the combination of rain and wind made conditions an absolute nightmare, and it showed during the game. Paddock struggled to find any real patterns of play and playing rhythm. The conditions were a massive equaliser in what was anticipated as being a comfortable game for the visitors. However, in what was an unconvincing performance, Paddock did scrape through with a 3-2 win and will be eager to put the performance behind them and be satisfied with the result.

Howson did reiterate, “The conditions were awful, and we did have to adjust from how we usually play, but we do have to up our performance level if we are going to achieve what we want to achieve by the end of the season.”

In what was a scrappy and disjointed game throughout and it took a couple of moments of brilliance to get Paddock over the line. The deadlock was broken in what should already be locked up as the goal of the season, with a 40-yard screamer from Bouba Jenkins, a goal that was later almost matched in the game by Mikey Burke, who cut inside from the left and lashed home a superb strike into the top corner. Two instances of class in a game that largely lacked quality as the hosts soaked up the pressure and were able to break clinically on two occasions to score their goals. Paddock would score the winner in the end through Bouba Jenkins, who scrambled home a cushioned header from Paul Arrowsmith to complete his brace and send Paddock through into the next round of the cup.

A performance that will need to improve as Stretford Paddock takes on Polonia next week as they look to secure league glory.

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE!! | Salford Victoria vs Stretford Paddock FC | Match Highlights

Table-topping Stretford Paddock are back in action this weekend against Salford Victoria, in what is now just five more league games of the season remaining and Paddock are expecting five wins from five if they’re going to end the season as champions.

Coming off a subpar 4-1 victoria against bottom of the league side AFC Oldham, the team are well aware that they will need a massive uptick in performance this time around if they are going to be able to avoid a possible upset against a dangerous and mercurial Salford Vics side who have only played nine league games all season. Howson has been on record this week stating his discontent with the performance and setting out just how important each and every remaining game is, anything can happen on any given day and with De La Salle just one point behind with a game in hand there is simply no margin for error.

Something to keep an eye on, however, is the blazing hot form of Kieron Molloy who has Josh Smith’s goal scoring record in his sights, currently three goals behind with just five league games to go – with the form he’s in and with Josh out of action for the rest of the season, it would actually come as a surprise if Kieron isn’t able to overtake Josh come the end of the season. This weekend will however see the return of Will Hobson and Cameron Watters, who will undoubtedly help strengthen what has been an injury-ravaged squad in recent weeks.

The league is no longer in the hands of Howson’s men but they can just control what they can control. After all, points on the board trump ‘games in hand’, and as things stand, Paddock hold just a one-point lead at the top of the table. Anything can happen and if Paddock are able to win out the rest of the season they will be there or thereabouts.
