GREATER MANCHESTER WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

STRETFORD PADDOCK WOMEN

The Women’s team are a new addition for the 2025/26 season, and hopefully the first of many women’s and girls sides under the Paddock umbrella as we grow into a true academy club and community hub in Manchester.

Managed by Meg Stapleton, the team compete in the Greater Manchester League – Level 8 of English Women’s Football.

It’s early days for our women but they’re off to a bright start already, so keep an eye on their fixtures and see if you can’t get along to show some support – every spectator counts at this level, and seeing and hearing that support will help inspire them to do more on the pitch.

Who knows, you might even see future United or England stars in the process!

For those unfamiliar with the English women’s football pyramid, here’s how promotion and progression would look for the Paddock Women…

GMWFL Division One

We are here. This is Level 8. Paddock are in the mix with the likes of Wilmslow Albion and Eccles United as we begin our debut season.

There are Divisions Two and Three, should we ever be relegated, as well as a four division U18 system.

GMWFL Premier Division

Promotion to Level 7 would put Paddock in with the likes of West Didsbury & Chorlton, Lymm Rovers, Oldham Athletic and… Hyde United.

Some tasty local rivalries could be born!

North West Women’s Regional Football League Division One

Geography makes Level 6 a bit fiddly. We could be in the Northern, Central or Southern division. Accrington Stanley, Wigan Athletic, or Macclesfield.

North West Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division

Level 5 has notable names vying to enter the Women’s National League – similar to breaking out of the North West Counties. FC United of Manchester, Tranmere Rovers, Bury, Crewe Alexandra, and Bolton Wanderers are all here.

Women’s National League Division One North

Entering into the WNL proper at Level 4 will pit you against Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, Wythenshawe, and the famous Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Women’s National League Northern Premier Division

Level 3 is purely a north/south divide, so Paddock would undoubtedly be northern. Stoke, West Brom, Wolves, Burnley… it starts to get meaty here.

Women’s Super League 2 (WSL2)

We’ve gone national at Level 2. Formerly known as the Championship but rebranded for the 2025/26 season. Get the coach ready to travel to face Palace, Newcastle, Forest, and more.

Women’s Super League (WSL)

Welcome to Level 1. The pinnacle of Women’s Football in England, and potentially in Europe.

Manchester derbies with United and City await…
