Match Preview: Ashton Town Reserves VS Stretford Paddock

Stretford Paddock are back in action this weekend in the Cheshire League with their first fixture this season against Ashton Town Reserves. After advancing into the next round of the J A Walton Challenge Cup last weekend, Paddock need to keep wining in the league if they want promotion come the end of the season.

Opponent Watch

Ashton Town Reserves are currently sat in the lower half of the table – in 12th place.

The side with a Wigan postcode currently have 12 points to their name, made up from 4 wins and 9 losses.

Despite being in the bottom half, Ashton Town are a side who can score goals. They have only failed to score in a game twice in 13 games this season – not bad for a side not doing so too well according to the table.

Ashton Town have netted 31 goals this season and will be no doubt planning on bagging some more this weekend. Their goals are nicely split amongst their squad with there top goalscorer, Stuart McDonald, only having 3 of those 31 goals.

This suggests that Paddock are going to be facing a tough team oriented side in Ashton Town Reserves.

Situational Preview

Stretford Paddock still have games in hand on all but 3 teams in the Cheshire League Division 2. As manager, Stephen Howson, has said in previous interviews, Paddock will be looking at one game at a time rather than thinking about promotion or a title challenge.

A win for Paddock and a loss for St Michaels DH would see Paddock move up into 4th spot – just 2 places off the promotion spots.

Should teams below Paddock win however, and Paddock lose, Ste’s boys could drop down as far as 9th place. This shows us how close things seem to be down in mid-table.

Ashton Town will have their eye’s on a win only. A loss tomorrow could see them drop down to 14th place (second bottom) should Pilkington U23’s and West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves both obtain victories.

Team News

It’ll be interesting to see what team, Director of Football, Bill Prendergast, decides to go with.

Since Ste’s absence, Bill has made some interesting and effective call’s which have seen Paddock obtain 2 victories.

Bill has taken striker, Abdullah Saeed (AB) from the Development side and into the 1st team where he has been effective as a striker as well as moving Tom Jones into a wider position.

With the return of Ronaldo Brown from Qatar, it will be interesting to see how this forward dynamic changes.

The Paddock Roundup #4: First Point for Our Devs!

U21’s

This week saw Paddocks U21โ€™s take on Hartford U21โ€™s in what proved to be a closer affair than the score line presented.

The game was evenly poised going into the latter stages of the first half and then, madness began to unfold – 3 goals in the space of 8 minutes to be precise! Hartford netted twice and then, a great cross into the box via Toby Schwab found the unmarked Marcel Kinsi who slotted home right on half time.

The second half started at a fast pace with both teams netting again, thanks to Sean Colbert. He made the game 3-2 going into the last 35 minutes.

A mistake from the Paddock keeper meant that Hartford went 4-2 up however, a great cross in from Tiago Baรงo was met by Alan Kay who managed to score on consecutive days this weekend. Kay had now scored for Paddock’s Development side and U21’s, making the scoreline on the day 4-3.

Paddock, pressing for an equaliser, then fell short as a breakaway goal was scored by our opponents to seal our fate as we came out on the wrong end of a 5-3 loss.

It was certainly Paddock’s best performance in the month of November and itโ€™s definitely something to build upon. We play Hartford away in a couple of weeks where we are confident we can return the favour.

Development

Last Saturday, Stretford Paddock Devs earned their first point of the season away at Manchester South 1st’s.

Stretford Paddock started the game with relentless work focusing in particular on diamonds and triangles in their build up phase. Paddock played some of their best football this season with free flowing 1 and 2 touch passing.

The excellent, Charles Frapwell scored a long range effort and had the opportunity to put Paddock 2 up after forcing a great save from the South Manchester goalkeeper from another sweeping move.

In the 2nd half, South Manchester 1st’s seemed to be more up for it and attacked Paddock relentlessly. Paddock kept to their defensive principles and shape to frustrate the opposition. Unfortunately for Paddock, the home side’s pressure eventually paid off with South Manchester socirng 2 goals in relatively quick succession. Paddock equalised with minutes remaining and Alan Kay’s goal sealed Paddock their first point of the season.

Our Devs face Moston Brook on Saturday where they will look to get even more points on the board.

Amateurs

Last weekend, Stretford Paddock Amateurs were hoping to turn recent improvements into some points on the board. Milton 1st’s were this weeks opposition.

They were faced however, with an uphill battle straight from the start as they played the match with 10 players due to some late changes in circumstances for players due to be involved.

While trying to adjust to playing with a player less, the opposition capitalised and scored an early goal. Paddock responded well however and worked tirelessly to keep out Milton, reducing them mostly to balls into wide areas and dealing with crosses into the box.

The team managed to break forward a few times and thought they had earned a penalty when Richie Adjei was tripped up in the box with the score still 1-0. The referee waved play on.

Despite their best efforts, the Amateurs conceded two more goals before half time. The first of these was an excellent shot from distance flying into the top corner while the second was a quick shot off a loose ball following an initial block.

Paddock started the second half positively, holding their shape well and forcing mistakes out of the opposition. As knocks and fatigue crept in though, Paddock started to concede more chances requiring some last ditch tackles and excellent saves by keeper Victor Gimenez. Vic was given plenty of praise from the opposition. Milton would go on to score two more goals during the second half, making the score 5-0 at full-time.

A disappointing outcome for Paddock that overshadows a committed performance over 90 minutes.

1st’s

Match preparation was again challenging with traffic chaos forcing changes to the starting line up against Moore United in the Cup.

The messages were clear though and a positive front foot approach saw a swift exchange with Paddock going close early on. An immediate response from the home side however, saw them go in front when we failed to clear a hopeful ball into our box. Moore United clinically capitalised on Paddock’s failed clearance. 1-0 to Moore United.

Following the early set-back, Paddock equalised smartly following an attack down the right hand side with Tom Jones supplying a terrific ball to the far post. Joao De Andrade was in the right place at the right time to knock the ball into the back of the net.

Paddock then went in front following further good pressure with Tom Jones providing the final ball for Joao De Andrade to finish excellently – very similarly to the first goal.

Stretford Paddock really looked assured and were able to make several tactical changes which continued to creating an array of chances. Paddock however, failed to convert any of them, the best of which was from Abdullah Saeed who received the ball on the half way line. He took on the whole of Moore United’s defence only to see his effort hit the post and come back out.

Moore United equalised on the 69th minute converting excellently from a free kick. Yet, within minutes, Paddock were back in front with Nosa Iyamu converting a penalty award with aplomb, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Moore United again equalised from a free kick again hitting the target with power.

Our winner came late following an intelligent first time ball into a dangerous area from Mikey Burke. With our two centre halfโ€™s combining, Tommy MacFarlane converted clinically, showing our front foot approach mindset was still evident right to the end.

Following a tough 3-2 victory over Hartford last Saturday, Stretford Paddock will be confident heading into this weekendโ€™s game. We take on Moore United for the first time this season, but itโ€™ll be in the cup. For the second week, Paddock will be without the gaffer, Stephen Howson, meaning his players will have to give 110% to progress into the next round.

Opposition Watch

Moore United, a team weโ€™ve not yet faced this season, play in the same division as Paddock; Division 2 of the Cheshire Football League. They find themselves three points below Stretford Paddock in 8th place with 19 points, whereas Howson’s men sit in 5th.

This weekend’s opponents have been in patchy form thus far, winning just two out of their last five league games. Their last two games however, have ended in two back-to-back victories against West Dids and Chorlton Reserves, who sit in 14th place in the table. They have conceded a whopping nine goals in their last five games, but with the help of star man Kane Hacket โ€“ they have scored six in their last two.

Kane Hackett is certainly the man to watch out for. In 11 appearances for Moore United, heโ€™s grabbed five goals and seven assists. A tally of 12 G/A in 11 league games makes Hackett a clear danger man โ€“ one that Paddock will need to stop

Game Guide

The game will be the opening round of the J A Walton Challenge Cup which involves all teams from the Cheshire Football League – from League 1 and League 2 groups. Itโ€™s Paddockโ€™s first time in the competition whereas Moore United were knocked out in the first-round last year. The winner will progress to the second round, then the quarter final and so on and so forth.

Both sides are similarly matched in the league, so there is a good chance this will be a good test for the boys.

With near enough identical league records, after the same number of games, the game is set to be a close one. Paddock have been in better form however, losing just one in their last seven, which bodes well for the fixture.

Team News

Good news for Paddock is that Jainero Salmon-Harris is set to be available for the fixture after recovering from a concussion. Ironically, this will give Bill a headache over his midfield selection for the game.

Salmon-Harris is a midfield player who offers calmness and quality to the Paddock midfield. After injuries, suspensions and work commitments all caused damaged Paddockโ€™s midfield in recent weeks, the possible return of Salmon-Harris is nothing but positive.

While one midfielder has returned, Dom Molloy will still be missing for our cup game as he is still recovering from his injury sustained against Heyside.

Paddock will also be without forward, Ronaldo Brown, for one more week but fortunately, new first team addition โ€“ Abdullah Saeed (AB) will be able to step in after scoring in his last game.

Match Report: Stretford Paddock VS Hartford

Paddocks efforts saw them beat Hartford FC for the second time this season in a closely contested 3-2 victory. The away side came into the match just 3 points behind Paddock and with a point to prove after their previous defeat to the YouTube side this season.

The opening few minutes saw the Hartford attackers apply heavy pressure to the Paddock backline, and their intensity prevailed when they glanced home a header from an inswinging corner, just 7 minutes into the game.

Paddockโ€™s struggle to cope with set pieces had been their undoing once again, however their response was electric, with Tom Jones knocking down a long ball to tee up a headed finish from Saeed.

Despite the timely response to going behind, Paddocks high line was being tested, and the boys in red couldnโ€™t prevent a shot flying into the roof of the net just 2 minutes after they had levelled the scoring.

Stretford Paddock’s character showed once more, and having set up the first Tom Jones took his turn to make the net bulge, with Nosaโ€™s tricky feet and expert delivery setting up a close range header.

At half time the sides went in level, and with the three points poised to be snatched it was anyoneโ€™s game going into the second period.

HT: Stretford Paddock 2-2 Hartford

Paddock rose to the challenge with immediate effect, with Saeed hitting the bar from close range within a minute of the restart.

It didnโ€™t take long for Paddocks persistence to reap the rewards. After a throw in to the box caused defensive chaos in the Hartford backline, John Ogo kept a cool head to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

The rest of the match saw little action at either end of the field, with the home side showing a stubbornness in defence that ultimately saw them collect all three points.

Itโ€™s a big victory for Paddock who continue their fight to gain a promotion spot.

FT: Stretford Paddock 3-2 Hartford

Stretford Paddock: Victor Gimenez, Michael Burke, James Oatt (C), Thomas MacFarlane, Callum Kilroe, Nosa Iyamu, Omar Sinclair, Nasser Shakoor, Tom Jones, Joao De Andrade, Abdullah Saeed

Match Preview: Stretford Paddock VS Hartford

After Paddock’s 6 game win streak came to an end last Saturday, an opportunity to get back to winning ways arises this weekend against Hartford. Having beaten Hartford already this season, Stretford Paddock will walk into Saturday’s fixture with confidence. If Howson’s men want to have a title challenge this season, a victory this weekend seems like a must.

Opposition Watch

In the reverse fixture, back in August, Stretford Paddock sealed a 3-1 against Hartford with a memorable solo effort from Kayode Adewale – deep into injury time. That important victory would go on to be the second victory on Paddock’s impressive 6 game League win streak.

Since then, Hartford have had quite a mixed time in the League. They currently sit in 11th place with 16 points, only 3 points behind Paddock. 2 good wins away at Mersey Valley and Pilkington followed there defeat to Paddock, but in their latest 2 league games, they walked away with only a point and 7 goals conceded.

The danger man for tomorrow’s visitors is, no doubt, Sam Dickenson. The Hartford forward has scored 13 goals in only 9 games this season in the Cheshire League. Should he be playing tomorrow, there’s no doubt the boys at the back will be busy.

Game Guide

Hartford are one of the only other teams in the league to have a handful of games in hand. Just like Paddock, they have only played 10 games so this season. A win tomorrow would but them ahead of Stretford Paddock on goal difference.

A win for Paddock, however, would make things interesting at the top of the league. Paddock, with an extra 3 points to their name, could go as high as 5th place – and thats with between 2 and 5 games in hand on their upper table opponents. Paddock will be desperate to win and keep a promotion challenge alive.

Team News

Stretford Paddock will be without there manager, Stephen Howson, until after the World Cup. Ste will be in Qatar for the duration of the tournament helping coverage for the YouTube channel, FIVE. Paddock forward, Ronaldo Brown, will be out there also and therefore not available, but for only 2 weeks.

Stepping in for Howson will be Paddock’s Director of Football, Bill Prendergast. Bill is a man with decades of experience in and around football including over 40 years of coaching. It’s safe to say that Paddock will be in safe hands.

After returning from his suspension last week against Upton, Joao De Andrade will be hoping to be back in the starting lineup again this weekend. With Ronaldo Brown out of the squad, an opportunity for De Andrade arises to cement himself back in the starting 11.

The Paddock Roundup #3: No Points Again

Welcome to another issue of the paddock round up! Our aim is to provide an insight into how our other teams, alongside the Stretford Paddock first team, have got on in their respective matches. Read on to find out how our Development and Amateur sides matches played out this weekendโ€ฆ

Abacus Media Reserves 3 โ€“ 2 Stretford Paddock Development

The development side produced a spirited performance and were unlucky to be on the receiving end of a 3-2 loss this week against Abacus Media Reserves.

Fresh of a 4-0 defeat last weekend, Paddock were up for the fight and looking to amend their recent form.

Abacus started the game with a sense of security in possession, however Paddockโ€™s numerical overloads caused problems on the transition and the Development sideโ€™s hard work paid off with an excellent opening goal.

A cluster of quick passes drove the ball into the feet of Adam Magdi, who calmly finished into the bottom corner.

Paddock forced further chances on the counter, but their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal cost them as Abacus drew level shortly before the break.

The away sideโ€™s problems soon furthered; a lapse of concentration in the Paddock backline was punished by the Abacus attackers who gained the lead early in the first half.

The home teamโ€™s momentum started building, and their attacking threat was rewarded with a sublime volley to provide a 2 goal cushion for the hosts.

Paddock, in spite of their recent performances, produced an admirable fighting spirit with Sean Colbert and Travis Robinson, in particular, causing major problems in the second half.

Paddocks tenacity resulted in an eventual goal, with Colbert setting up Robinson for a sublime finish.

The final 10 minutes saw Paddock throw caution to the wind, but a fine performance from the opposition goalkeeper saw the game slip away despite the late fightback.

A disappointing result no doubt, yet, there were plenty of positives to take away for our Development team.

Rochdalians AFC 6 – 0 Stretford Paddock Amateurs

A dismal day saw our Amateurs concede 6 against Rochdalians AFC.

Paddock started brightly and on the front foot, with chances being plentiful for the Amateurs in the opening exchanges.

The first 20 minutes saw the opposition mainly restricted to their own half, but miscommunication in defence gifted a goal to Rochdalians; further providing them with the momentum that would see them claim the three points.

Two more goals before half time seemed to have put the game beyond Paddock, but the message at half time was to be positive and offer more options ahead of the ball.

The offensive minded team talk proved effective, and the second 45 saw the amateurs have plenty of chances, but a reluctance to pull the trigger cost them dearly.

The 65th minute saw a wayward cross loop over the Paddock goalkeeper, and the fortuitous goal all but condemned Paddock to defeat.

The Amateursโ€™ attacking spirit was plentiful, but the bodies pushed forward ultimately cost the side another two goals to take the scoreline to 6-0.

Despite the scoreline, Stretford Paddock had some positives to take, with Brandon Munemo stepping up in only his second game to cause several problems to the Rochdalian AFC backline.

Match Report: Upton JFC VS Stretford Paddock

Paddocks 6 game win streak came to an end in Chester today as table toppers Upton JFC ran riot to claim themselves a 4-1 victory. The home side found themselves 3-0 up at half time with poor defending from set-pieces and individual errors plaguing Paddock in the first 45. Despite a bright start after the break the game proved to be out of reach for the away team with a late Upton goal killing the match once and for all.

Paddock dominated possession for much of the first half but another early goal was conceded, with the 5th minute strike meaning Paddock were always chasing the game. Upton worked the ball beautifully before finding the back of the net โ€“ showing the visitors why they are top.

The away sides response to going behind was one of a charged nature, but the oppositions defensive solidarity was proving an immovable force. Uptonโ€™s counter attacking prowess ultimately led to a second goal in just the 28th minute, with another defensive error giving the home side an open net to score into.

The familiar foe of defending set pieces led to the third goal, and the game seemed to already be out of reach at half time.

Half Time: Upton JFC 3-0 Stretford Paddock FC

Having won 11 of their 14 League games this season, the league leaders have proven that they know how to hold on to the 3 points. Stretford Paddock however, came out after the break striving to level up the scoreline. With the second half comeback of last week fresh in the playerโ€™s minds, talisman Tom Jones planted a phenomenal header to ignite a potential turnaround just 5 minutes into the second half.

Despite their best efforts, fatigue started to trickle into the teamโ€™s performance as the Upton backline simply would not prevail. With bodies launched forward for the trailing side, Uptonโ€™s pace and willingness to counter led to a 4th goal in the 84th minute of the match, sealing the fate of a disappointing day for the YouTube side.

Paddock still find themselves outside of the promotion places, but games in hand on the teams above them show that there is still plenty to fight for despite the disappointing encounter with Upton JFC.

Match Report: Stretford Paddock 3-1 F.C. St. Helens Reserves

On a dark and wet afternoon in Wythenshawe, Stretford Paddock scored 3 second half goals to return to winning ways and keep their Cheshire League win streak alive and kicking. A freekick from Omar Sinclair, a penalty from Tom Jones and a weak foot strike from Kieron Molloy; saw Paddock go from being 1-0 down to eventual 3-1 victors. The YouTube side are now on a 6-game win streak going into a huge fixture next weekend against league leaders, Upton JFC.

The first half was, without doubt, F.C. St Helensโ€™. The away side defended well when Paddock were in possession and often forced them to lose the ball through a consistent press. St Helenโ€™s also enjoyed spells of possession themselves, creating a handful of chances.

It took the visitors only 5 minutes to go ahead, however. A freekick on the edge of the box allowed St Helens to get a cross into a dangerous area. Just like last week, Paddock failed to deal with their opponents set piece. A lack of communication between keeper, Vic Gimenez, and his men in the box saw the ball hit the deck and trickle into the back of the net.

With 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Paddock finally had a positive spell โ€“ often getting the ball into their opponents final third via Ronaldo Brown. Kieron Molloy, late into the half, put a 1-on-1 wide of the post and Paddock found themselves a goal down at the break.

Half Time: Stretford Paddock 0-1 F.C. St. Helenโ€™s Reserves

Paddock came out better after half time however, whenever they tried to break the line and get the ball up to their attackers, the pass was frequently forced and rarely executed well.

It took until the 68th minute for Paddock to calm down and to โ€˜do their thingโ€™ โ€“ beat their opponents by moving the ball. The catalyst – a wonderful goal from Omar Sinclair. A foul, right on the edge of the box gave Paddock a freekick in a dangerous area. Sinclair, after scoring from a similar position last week, was the only man taking this one. He whipped the ball over the wall and into the top corner.

Some great defending from James Oatt and Tommy MacFarlane kept Paddock in the game up until the 83rd minute where Paddock were awarded a penalty. The man who was pulled back in the box, Tom Jones, stepped up and hammered his shot into the roof of the net.

With just 4 minutes to go, Kieron Molloy put the game to bed. St Helens has committed men forward which, for the first time, gave Molloy space. A clearance from Brown was claimed by Molloy. He burst past his defender and hammered his trike past the keeper โ€“ 3-1 to The Paddock.

Full Time: Stretford Paddock 3-1 F.C. St. Helens Reserves

Stretford Paddock: Vic Gimenez, Michael Burke, James Oatt (C), Thomas MacFarlane, Omar Sinclair (86โ€™ GOAL), Nosa Iyamu, Cameron Watters (90+1 RED CARD), Jainiero Salmon-Harris (52โ€™ Aftab Jan), Ronaldo Brown (46โ€™ David Salome), Tom Jones (83โ€™ GOAL), Kieron Molloy (86โ€™ GOAL)

Match Preview: Stretford Paddock VS F.C. St. Helens Reserves

This Saturday, Stretford Paddock will be looking to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s Manchester Saturday Challenge Trophy exit. Their 3-2 away loss to Heyside FC marked the end of an impressive 6 win streak but more frustratingly, ended an opportunity for Ste’s men to get their hands on some silverware. A home fixture against F.C. St. Helens Reserves provides not only a chance to bounce back, but to restore some confidence.

Opposition Watch

F.C. St. Helens Reserves currently sit 3rd in Div 2 of the Cheshire League – 9 points ahead of Paddock (they have also played 4 more matches). Saturday’s away side have had a fantastic start to the season, having won 8 matches, drawn 1 and only losing 3.

It was last weekend however, where St Helens showed the rest of the league what they are truly capable of. With a 2-0 win away from home, St Helens became the first team to beat league leaders, Upton JFC – a result which psychologically opens up the title race.

The main man for St Helens this season has been Thomas Scarborough. With 10 goals in 6 appearances, theres no doubt that the Paddock defence need to be on it, should he feature on Saturday.

Jack Gibney and Callum Leonard have also been dangerous in front of goal this season registering 5 and 7 goals respectively.

Game Guide

Saturday’s fixture is another must win for Paddock. As they were slow out of the blocks this season, getting as many wins as possible prior to Christmas is vital – especially against opposition higher in the table.

A win against St Helens would mean that Paddock would only be 6 points behind the promotion challengers, and that is with 4 games in hand on them. The longer Stretford Paddock can continue to win in the league, the more likely a title/promotion challenge will become.

A win for the visitors also holds importance. If St Helens manage to win all 3 of their games in hand, they would go 2nd.

Team News

Yet again, there are questions in regards to availability for Paddock. After coming off injured against Heyside, it looks like Dom Molloy will be unavailable this weekend. Joao De Andrade is also unavailable, having to serve a ban for one more game.

The man who’s already thrown his hat into the ring for player of the season, Kieron Molloy, was sorely missed last weekend. Paddock will be hoping that he will be back available this weekend.

Let’s hope Paddock can keep this league win streak alive!

We will be playing at the Manchester Enterprise Academy again this Saturday. With entry being free, why not come down and cheer on the boys?

The Paddock Roundup #2: A Weekend to Forget

Welcome to the second issue of The Paddock Roundup! Our aim is to provide you with a weekly insight into how our other three teams, alongside the Stretford Paddock first team, have got on in their respective matches. Read on to find out how the Stretford Paddock Firstโ€™s, U21โ€™s, the Amateurs and the Development side all performed this week!

Firstโ€™s

ย

Heyside 3-2 Stretford Paddock

After winning 6 games on the bounce, Paddockโ€™s quite brilliant winning streak came to an end this weekend with a 3-2 loss to Heyside FC. Paddock were back in action in the Manchester Saturday Challenge Trophy facing a Heyside team playing 2 divisions above them (In the Manchester Football League, not the Cheshire League).

Despite going ahead twice, Steโ€™s boys failed to pull away from Heyside and were eventually punished. Omar Sinclair gave Paddock the lead in the 7th minute with a sublime knuckleball freekick โ€“ the perfect start. It was mistakes that proved to be costly this week for Paddock, however.

Not long after scoring, Paddock failed to clear a Heyside corner and the home side headed the ball home. With the scores level at the break, it was vital that the away started the second half just as they did in the first.

Thatโ€™s exactly what they did. Ronaldo Brown linked up well with Tom Jones who lifted the ball over Heysideโ€™s keeper to restore Paddockโ€™s lead just seconds into the half. Despite the great start to the half, another defensive mistake allowed to Heyside to level things up, once again.

It proved to be a day where Paddock quite simply were not at the races. After a handful of half chances from Stretford Paddock, another mistake granted Heyside their winner. An outswinger of a cross into the Paddock box was, yet again, not dealt with. Heyside, gifted with a free header, found the back of the net and a spot in the next round of the Manchester Saturday Challenge Trophy.

U21โ€™s

ย

Hyde United 6 โ€“ 0 Stretford Paddock U21โ€™s

ย

Having conceded 7 the previous week, another tough challenge faced our U21 side with the team on the receiving end of a 6 goal margin.

The trip to Hyde United for game day 7 was always going to be a challenge with the home side having won all of their league games so far this season, and this past weekendโ€™s fixture showed the hosts quality once again.

Hyde started the game on the front foot and quickly found themselves 2 goals to the good. The fast pace of the game proved to be a problem for Stretford Paddock.

Despite the game settling down, a further two goals were added before half time to ensure that any threat to Hyde Unitedโ€™s lead was snuffed out. A half time scoreline of 4-0 proved to be too much of a mountain for our u21โ€™s to climb.

The second half saw a change of formation for Paddock. This vastly improved our ladsโ€™ performance, but the hosts were eager to settle any nerves and finished the match with a 6-0 score line.

The defeat serves as a learning opportunity for both the players and coaches alike, and the side is raring to battle it out once again in the North West Development League โ€“ Championship A.

Amateurs

ย

Mill Hill 5-1 Stretford Paddock Amateurs

ย

Our amateurs tasted defeat in the North West Inter League Cup in what proved to be a difficult contest.

Blackburn based side Mill Hill provided a clinical display, finding the net five times in what was a high scoring affair.

The amateurs started the match brightly, with Paul Arrowsmith a standout performer in the early stages of the game. Despite this, Mill Hillโ€™s counter attacking prowess got the better of the Paddock defensive line.

The speed of the opposing front three proved to be the difference between the sides, with a 3-0 score line at halftime providing a tough challenge to overcome for Paddock.

Despite pulling back a goal, Paddock ended up on the receiving end of a 5-1 defeat and will look to turn around the recent run of seven defeats next weekend against Milton.

Development

ย

AFC Oldham 2005 4 โ€“ 0 Stretford Paddock Development

ย

Despite a promising performance away from home, our development team couldnโ€™t get the better of AFC Oldham 2005. For the second week in a row, Paddock conceded 4 goals away from home.

The away side were unlucky to not be in front in the first half. Paddockโ€™s Sean Colbert proved to be the difference however, a deflected own goal at the end of the first half gave the hosts a 1-0 lead going into the break.

Oldham started the game only three points ahead of Paddock in the table, so a fight for a crucial three points was seemingly imminent as the second forty-five got underway.

The start of the second half saw a surge of attacking play from both sides and chances were plentiful, however, the large number of players pushed forward proved to play into the hands of Oldham. With the home side managing to take advantage of the game stretching out, they managed to add three further goals to an ultimately disappointing scoreline.
