Match Preview: Stretford Paddock VS Mersey Valley

For the first time this season, Paddock have a chance to put a previous disappointment right when they face Mersey Valley this Saturday. It’s been almost a month since Paddock’s last league fixture yet, the club will be looking to make it 3 wins on the bounce in this weeks matchup.

Mid-Season friendly

Paddock have not played a league game since the end of last month, where they convincingly beat Hartford 3 goals to 1. Despite this, the lads have been training regularly and have managed to dust away some cobwebs with a preseason friendly last Saturday against Crewe FC Reserves.

Manager, Stephen Howson shared his thoughts on this week’s fixture:

“It’s nice to finally have a game. We aren’t really bothered about last week’s result as the progress in our style for play and attacking shape was great against Crewe.”

Paddock lost 3-2 away against Crewe FC, however the first half performance was full of positives. Tom Jones’ brace was taken brilliantly thanks to two brilliant balls from Salmon-Harris and De Andrade.

Mersey Valley

Mersey Valley hosted Paddock earlier this season and Ste’s lads went home frustrated. An effective Mersey Valley low block and some bad fortune meant that Paddock were sent home with only a point. The manager is looking forward to trying to put things right:

“It’s the first time we are playing opposition that we’ve played before, so I think we know what to expect. I am confident that if my lads do their job, we should come away with the three points.”

Mersey Valley currently sit second bottom of the division, only registering one win and two draws. Experience has thought Paddock however, that their opposition this weekend will be no push overs.

Team News

This week, Paddock are without two key men in the middle. Cam Watters and Kayode Adewale are unavailable for selection. Nosa Iyamu is also serving a suspension following his sending off against Hartford. Luckily for Stretford Paddock, the club has an array of top central midfielders. With Dom Molloy and Jainiero Salmon-Harris up for selection, coaches Ste and Bill are in safe hands.

Paddock have a big opportunity this weekend to build on solid base that they’ve recently formed. 3 wins from 3 will certainly send a message to the rest of the league – a message that the Paddock boys are ready to fight in the upper regions of the division.

Match Report: Hartford vs Stretford Paddock

Despite being a man down from early on, Stretford Paddock outperformed their hosts to double their winning streak. Goals from Ronaldo Brown, Tom Jones and Kayode Adewale sealed all three points in an almost flawless performance.

Paddock finished their warmup late and swiftly carried over their intensity into the match. It took only 2 minutes for the visitors to create their first chance and they were clinical. A run down the left from Kieron Molloy ended with a nice cross into the danger area. Ronaldo Brown timed his run to perfection and slotted the ball home.

Despite scoring, Paddock saw no drop off in intensity. Good transitions between midfield and attack created a handful of half chances for the away side. Hartford, however, began to match Paddock’s work rate and defended well.

In the 22nd minute Paddock doubled their lead. Great linkup play between the forward 3 saw the ball fall to the feet of Ronaldo Brown. His shot from inside the area was blocked by a last ditch tackle, yet Tom Jones calmly half volleyed he rebound home.

In contrast to their first goal, Paddock were caught napping straight after scoring. Hartford attacked well via a quick counter attack to win a wide free kick and only 3 minutes after scoring their second, it was 1-2. A good cross from Hartford’s corner was allowed to reach the back post and a well-timed header guided the free ball into the top corner.

Both teams continued to play fight and certainly with their hearts on their sleeves. Midway through the first half, Paddock’s striker, Tom Jones was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes for dissent. In the 35th minute a late tackle on Nosa Iyamu caused him to react and subsequently pick up a yellow card. Less than a minute later, Iyamu let out his anger by putting in a late foul on Hartford’s fullback. 2 yellow cards in as many minutes for Iyamu meant Paddock were momentarily 2 men down. Just before half time, Jones came back onto the pitch but Paddock would have to finish the match with only 10 men.

Despite this blow, Stretford Paddock carried on playing in the same fashion. Good chemistry between Jones and Molloy helped release Ronaldo Brown. Brown received the ball, beat his man and but his strike clattered the upright.

HT: Hartford 1-2 Stretford Paddock

The second half was far calmer than the first. Even though Stretford Paddock were a man down, they began to control the half the longer it went on. Hartford seemed to be low on energy and couldn’t match Paddock’s work rate.

Despite their dominance over their opposition, Stretford Paddock didn’t get their first true chance until the 75th minute. Hartford almost shot themselves in the foot when they played a loose ball back to their keeper. The pace of substitute, Nico McCreath allowed him to beat the Hartford keeper to the ball. His shot however, was well wide.

For the second week in a row, Paddock entered the latter stages of the game, despite dominating, only one goal ahead – it nearly cost them. In the 85th minute, Hartford earned themselves a freekick on the edge of the D and they hit the bar. The ball fell loosely to a Hartford player and a sweet strike that was destined for the back of the net was heroically headed away by James Oatt. Paddock’s captain had saved the day once again.

Nerves were apparent amongst the Stretford Paddock bench but deep into stoppage time, man of the match, Kayode Adewale, produced some magic. He collected a loose ball from the halfway line and ran towards goal. His pace on the ball meant nobody could catch him and he beautifully took the ball past the keeper before slotting it home.

Stretford Paddock: Victor Gimenez, Michael Burke, Omar Sinclair, James Oatt, Paulo Incaque (64′ Will Hobson), Nosa Iyamu, Jainiero Salmon-Harris, Kayode Adewale (98′ GOAL) (10′ Joseph Coleman), Ronaldo Brown (2′ GOAL) (85′ Alan Kay), Tom Jones (22′ GOAL) (64′ Joao De Andrade), Kieron Molloy (64′ Nico McCreath)

Match Preview: Hartford vs Stretford Paddock

After a domineering 3-0 win against West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves, Stretford Paddock will be hoping that they can string a nice run together to get them back into the upper realms of the table. This weeks opponents, Hartford FC, sit just one point behind Stretford Paddock but have played a game less. A Paddock win would extend that lead to 4 points and certainly send a message of intent to the rest of the division.

Opposition

With 4 matches played, Hartford FC find themselves with 6 points: 2 wins and 2 losses. Despite this mixed start, the 2 losses came against undefeated league leaders, Bollington Town as well as undefeated title challengers, Upton JFC (played 2 games less than Bollington). Only losing 2-1 to Bollington is actually quite impressive and Hartford are therefore a side Paddock must face taking nothing for granted.

It’s hard to predict how opponents will look when you’ve never faced them before. Hartford’s respectable start and mid-table finish last season suggests that they will be tough opponents. Having played 3 full seasons already in League 2, Hartford are experienced.

Training

This week in training, the coaching staff challenged their squad with a ‘Shark Tank’ style session. The Shark Tank method is used within combat sports where a fighter preparing for a fight spars for a number of rounds. What makes it more challenging however, is that each round, a new opponent is brought in. They played half a match against Stretford Paddock’s Development side and then a half against the Reserves.

Manager, Stephen Howson was impressed with the way his side quite convincingly dealt with their opponents.

Team News

Ins:

James Oatt – Stretford Paddock’s captain has arguably been player of the season thus far. Oatt’s leadership skills, calmness in possession and pin point tackling skills have been vital for Paddock so far this season. He missed Saturday’s win against West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves but is back in the squad this weekend.

Keiron Molloy – Molloy was a serious doubt last week due to an ankle injury. He made the match day squad and after a late substitute appearance, bagged himself a goal. Molloy’s injury is in a much better place now and he will be hoping to be in the starting 11 at the weekend.

Outs:

Cameron Watters – Watters played a key role in Paddock’s win last Saturday. He’s unavailable this week.

Aftab Jan – Jan was voted Man of the Match away against West Didsbury and Chorlton. He changed the tempo of the game after coming on at half time. An injury picked up at the weekend makes him a strong doubt for Saturday.

Talking Point

Kayode Adewale – Due to a lack of availability, Adewale filled in at Centre Half last weekend and he really impressed. Where will he feature this weekend?

Match Report: West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves vs Stretford Paddock

In another must win away game, Stretford Paddock turned up to the races in true style. Goals from Tom Jones, Alan Kay and Kieron Molloy helped guide Paddock to their second win of the season. With fixtures against Hartford and Bollington coming up thick and fast, Ste will be hoping that a much-needed winning run is just getting started.

The match got off to a slow start however, it was Paddock who were in control. Some good link up play and lots of pressure when out of possession showed that the visitors were desperate to get back to winning ways. The first 10 minutes saw errors from West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves forced by the Paddock front 3.

In the 15th minute Tom Jones and Ronaldo Brown worked well together to cause a mistake from the West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves keeper. The ball fell awkwardly to Nosa Iyamu and his tame shot was easily saved.

West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves looked very good on the ball – a very well coached team. Stretford Paddock, however, were first to everything and really suffocated them whilst the young side tried to build out from the back. Although real fighting spirit was evident from all 10 of Paddock’s outfield players, Ryan Pickering put in some key tackles early on to make sure Paddock deemed kept control of the first half.

The half was scattered with a number of half chances from Stretford Paddock but it took until the 41st minute until we saw their first true chance. Ronaldo Brown had the ball on the left-hand side of the pitch and dispatched the ball perfectly to his attacking counterpart, Tom Jones. Tom graciously entered the box with the ball close to his feet and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

HT: West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves 0-1 Stretford Paddock

The second half started in a rather similar fashion to the first – slow yet, well under Paddock control. A West Didsbury & Chorlton shot from the edge of the box was saved comfortably by Victor Gimenez – an early warning sign, perhaps.

The majority of the second half saw Paddock continue to dominate in almost all areas of the game. They were first to everything, creating attacking overloads and putting their youthful opponents under plenty of pressure when they tried to build possession. The problem for Paddock was not being able to extend their lead.

More great pressure from Brown, Jones and de Andrade led to a couple of goal scoring opportunities for Paddock but both were dealt with well by the West Didsbury & Chorlton defence. In the 65th minute a close range freekick from the hosts was hit inches wide and then minutes later, West Didsbury & Chorlton again came close when they hit the cross bar. Was it going to be one of those days for Paddock?

The impact of half-time substitute, Aftab Jan, was there for all to see. Just when the game seemed to be momentarily slipping out of Paddocks hands, Jan took control of the game from the middle of the park. In the 70th minute, after dancing past the West Didsbury & Chorlton right back, Jan’s edge of the area shot forced a good save from the keeper.

Inspired by Jan’s fresh legs, Stretford Paddock took back control of the game and in the 80th minute, eventually doubled their lead. A majestic 30-yard strike from Cameron Watters clattered back off of the cross bar and, debutant, Alan Kay was there to slot the rebound home. A win was on the horizon for the visitors.

5 minutes later it was 3-0 and the game was well and truly put to bed. Injury doubt, Kieron Molloy, came on as a late substitute and found the back of the net with his weak foot.

Match Preview: West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves VS Stretford Paddock

Stretford Paddock are on a bad run. After such a promising start, Paddock have conceded 10 goals in their last 3 fixtures and more disappointingly, only come away with 1 point from those 3 matches. A fresh challenge awaits them with a fixture on Saturday against West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves. There is no doubt that Ste and Bill are desperate for their Paddock side to bounce-back – it needs to come sooner rather later.

Team News

Paddock are without 9 first team squad members this weekend – a true reflection of the reality of Saturday League football. Players are human and human’s sometimes have other commitments. One of the 9 uncertain to play this weekend is Kieron Molloy. With minimal improvement to the state of his foot, he has no choice but to sit out of the starting 11 this week. Whether he will make it to the bench or not, we will have to wait and see.

Due to a lack of defenders available, the versatile and physical Kayode Adewale will be filling in at centre back. Despite the loss on Saturday, Kayode showed his physical presence in midfield as well his technical prowess – skills which can certainly be translated over to centre half.

On a more positive note, the squad will be seeing the return of Cam Watters into the middle of the park. Cameron has not played since the first day of the season against Holmes Chapel. Along with his good ball skills and work rate, Cam will be hoping to bring some good luck with him on Saturday – Paddock scored 7 goals last time he played!

There might also be a debut this weekend. Ex Getafe academy lad, David Solomé will feature on the bench. David’s key attribute, his long range shooting, might well be something that the manager will turn to late in the game.

This week at Paddock

After another disappointing result, Paddock boss, Stephen Howson, has been impressed with the way in which his players have responded on the training pitch. Ste told us “Trainings been really good this week. The attitude and application of the players have been fantastic.”

With possible questions over some of the players fitness, this week at training, Stretford Paddock were challenged with the bleep test. Aftab Jan came out on top with an impressive score of 14.3, but what was more impressive was the camaraderie amongst his team mates. Ste described the scene: “Some of the players who went out early [of the bleep test] got back in to help Aftab keep going.”

Our opposition

This weekend, we will be hosted by West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves at Hyde United Football Club.

The Reserve side have had a respectable start to this season bagging two wins from three games. What is interesting is that both wins have come against sides familiar to Stretford Paddock. Like Paddock, West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves comfortably beat Holmes Chapel whereas the Reserves easily dispatched Mersey Valley, unlike Paddock who could only manage a draw.

Finishing 5th last season, this weeks opponents will certainly give Paddock another challenging fixture. Ste’s boys have now however, had time to adapt to life in the Cheshire League. They know that games can be physical, technical or a mix of both. This will hopefully help them going deeper into the season and possibly even get them back to winning ways this weekend.

Match Report: Newton-Le-Willows vs Stretford Paddock

Saturday afternoon was another frustrating one for Stephen Howson and his Stretford Paddock side. In a repeat of last weeks result, the hosts, Newton-Le-Willows hammered 4 past Paddock to leave the visitors on 4 points in an as many matches.

It was 30°C at kick off but the opening stages of the game suggested otherwise. The match opened with plenty of intensity from both sides, the heat didn’t bother the players. Stretford Paddock looked bright in the opening phases of the match and it was evident to see that the return of Kayode Adewale and Dom Molloy in midfield, restored some solidity into the side.

Paddock almost concluded their dominant start with a goal as Ronaldo Brown used some quick footwork to beat two men and draw a foul. A rocket of a free kick from Dom Molloy tested the Newton-Le-Willows keeper but he parried it wide of the post.

Newton-Le-Willows’ fighting spirit was there for all to see but a more physical Paddock midfield, unlike last week, allowed the Reds to match the home teams fight. Balls from all areas of the pitch into the the attacking trio of Jones, de Andrade and Brown were giving Paddock a real sniff.

In the 39th minute, Paddock took a real blow. Newtons-Le-Willows’ first chance of the game was clinical. A cross along the floor is not dealt with by Paddock and the striker nicely slotted the ball into the bottom corner – 1-0.

Stretford Paddock responded instantaneously. A perfect ball over the top from Adewale is helped goal wards by Joao de Andrade. Unfortunately for the visitors, the ball narrowly sailed over the bar.

They say the best time to score is just before half time and that’s exactly what Newton-Le-Willows did. A great pass from the number 10 is slotted in behind the Paddock back line. The Newton-Le-Willows striker does very well to get his body into a position to hammer the ball home. A proper number 9’s goal.

HT: Newton-Le-Willows 2-0 Stretford Paddock

The second half started in a similar manner to the first; with great intensity. Despite this, the game remained quiet until the 68th minute. An edge of the D shot that was dragged wide by Dom Molloy was the only real bit of action to write home about. In the 68th minute however, Newton-Le-Willows put the game to bed. A long range shot from the left side of the pitch found the back of the net after with the aid of a slight deflection.

The 3rd goal was a dagger to the heart of Stretford Paddock. A final role of the dice to get back into the game involved putting Midfielder, Kayode Adewale up front and bringing on Coleman and Jan to freshen up ideas. There were some bright sparks from these changes however, the overall impact came too late.

In the final phases of the game, Newton-Le-Willows drew the curtain closed with a wonder strike. The midfielder volleyed the ball past Paddock keeper, Gimenez and into the back of the net – just skimming the underside of the crossbar.

Match Preview: Newton-Le-Willows vs Stretford Paddock

3 games, 3 outcomes: a win, a draw and a loss. It’s not the start that Manager, Stephen Howson and Director of Football, Bill Prendergast would have wanted but failings obtain value. In his post-match interview after Paddock’s 4-0 loss to Haydock, Bill valuably highlighted that “the lessons learnt from these 3 games have been [spreading his arms wide] that much.”

The beauty of football is that when things go wrong, there’s always an opportunity around the corner to put things right. With Howson being “pleased with attitude in training”, a week of reflection and regrouping is what Paddock will be hoping puts them in good stead going into this weekend’s fixture against Newton-Le-Willows.

Omar Sinclair

This weekend, Omar Sinclair returns to the Stretford Paddock side to play his first game of the season. Paddock’s solid option at the back, Will Hobson, is unavailable this weekend so Omar’s return to the squad could not have happened at a better time.

Omar Sinclair has had an impressive career thus far. He played for Paddock last season but did so off the back of playing college and club football out in The States. In 2018, Omar played for Detroit City in the second tier of the US Soccer pyramid. He’s back at Paddock to work with Bill and reignite his footballing career.

Omar’s return has reminded Ste of the benefit Stretford Paddock FC has regarding contacts and links to other clubs. “Being able to develop players and then move them onto bigger clubs is the best recruitment strategy I have,” Ste explained. “Omar should maybe be playing at a higher level, but we can help him get there”.

Other Team News

There is plenty of team news this week but it’s a mixed bag. Starting with the positives, this week will see the return of central midfielders Dom Molloy and Kayode Adewale. Paddock’s midfield severely lacked physicality against Haydock and there’s no doubt that Molloy and Kayode’s return immediately fixes this problem.

It’s Dom’s brother Kieron however, where the concerns lie. Kieron sustained a foot injury after last week’s fixture and the state of his foot has not improved throughout the week. Kieron is one of Paddock’s key attacking outlets and therefore everyone at the club is hoping for a swift recovery and return to the side.

Newton-Le-Willows

Newton-Le-Willows are Paddock’s opponents on Saturday. The side finished 7th in Cheshire League Division 2 last season and will therefore know what to expect going into this season. Currently sitting in 6th place, Newton-Le-Willows have started this season with 2 wins against FC St Helens and Ashton Town as well as a 2-1 loss to title contenders, Bollington Town.

There is no doubt that Paddock will be in for another tough game on Saturday but Molloy and Adewale should massively aid the team against another experienced side. An area of opportunity for Stretford Paddock may be exploiting the Newton-Le-Willows defence. They have conceded 8 goals in their opening 3 fixtures. The likes of Joao de Andrade, Nosa Iyamu and Ronaldo Brown know that they can be deadly in the final third.

As always, this week’s game is free to watch so get down and help Paddock get back to winning ways this weekend!

Match Report – Haydock Vs Stretford Paddock

In what felt like a must win game for Stretford Paddock, Haydock FC gave the Manchester side another reality check, putting 4 goals past them. Individual errors, a lack of creativity and most apparently, being outfought all led to a cataclysmic 4-0 defeat. 4 points from 3 games is not the that start Paddock wanted to life in the Cheshire League.

Less than 3 minutes into the game, Haydock stamped their authority. Good pressure from Haydock on the Paddock defence led to a Mikey Burke error and subsequently a Haydock corner. The corner was whipped into the near post with pace and met by Haydock’s striker. He accurately guided the ball through the legs of Ronaldo Brown and into the back of the net.

Just like on Wednesday, Paddock had conceded early but this time they didn’t respond well. Minutes later, another Haydock corner was headed towards the top corner, only being stopped by a spectacular save by Victor Gimenez.

Paddock needed 10 minutes until they got their first chance of the game. Kieron Molloy showed excellent skill and dynamic body movement to beat 2 Haydock defenders. His shot from the edge of the box drifted narrowly over the bar.

Halfway through the first half, it was evident that Paddock were missing key players. Cam Watters, Kayode Adewale and Dom Molloy all showed great physical presence in Paddock’s first two matches, and they were missed. Haydock had beaten Paddock to almost every ball and in the centre of the park and were very much ‘up for it’. Perhaps the presence of the YouTube cameras were working against Stretford Paddock this weekend.

HT: Haydock 1-0 Stretford Paddock

Paddock came out for the second half and tried to play in behind the channels of the Haydock defence but again, found difficulty in being first to the ball. In the 51st minute, Paddock received a real blow. Defender, Tommy MacFarlane, tried to stop a 1-on-1 between Victor Gimenez and the Haydock number 9 but clipped the forward, resulting in a penalty kick. The penalty was perfectly placed into the top right corner and Paddock had conceded in the early stages of a half once again.

A few minutes later, Stretford Paddock were slightly unlucky. Joao de Andrade seemed to be slapped in the face by the Haydock left back however, the referee did not see the incident and no red card was shown. Had one been given, the game might well have changed there and then.

With half an hour to go, manager, Stephen Howson, rolled the dice with a double change. Debutant: Bakare and entered the field but struggled to make too much of an impact. Stretford Paddock continued to be out-battled all the way though the second half.

In the 72nd minute, a rushed goal kick from Jimenez fell straight to the feet of the Haydock forward. He simply played it across goal and his attacking counterpart slotted it into the empty net. 3-0.

The last 20 minutes saw the game quieten down and become uneventful. Just before the final whistle was blown however, a freekick on the edge of the box was nicely slotted into the top corner by Haydock right back.

Match Preview – Haydock FC vs Stretford Paddock FC

After a frustrating Wednesday evening, Stretford Paddock will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Haydock FC on Saturday. If Paddock can get the win on Saturday, it would would leave them with 7 points from the opening 3 games of the season – a respectable start that they can build on.

It’s going to be tough

After the first two games, only two teams have won both. After a 4-3 loss on Tuesday night against Lymm Rovers, Haydock are one of the many teams finding themselves on 3 points. What is interesting though is that they convincingly beat Mersey Valley, Stretford Paddock’s most recent opponents, 6-2 on the opening day of the season.

There’s no doubt then that this will be a tough game for Paddock. Although they should have come out as victors against Mersey Valley, Haydock will enter Saturday’s fixture with a psychological boost.

Stretford Paddock however, should also enter the weekend with positives in mind. Against Mersey Valley, Debutant, Dom Molloy, impressed with his physicality and technical ability. The new signing has certainly thrown his name into the hat amongst the likes of Kayode Adewale, Cameron Waters and Jon Ogo to be in Saturdays starting 11.

An inspiring man of the match performance from the captain, James Oatt is another big positive and something that should give the Paddock lads belief. Whilst Paddock were doing their very best to break Mersey Valley down, when the ball was thumped away and ran onto by Mersey Valley’s number 9, James was there every time.

Must win

Upton JFC and Bollington Town are the only 2 teams who have got 2 wins from 2 thus far this season. With fixtures against Atherton Laburnum Rovers and Lymm Rovers this weekend (two sides on 3 points), you’d expect the top two clubs to make it 3 wins from 3.

It seems like Upton and Bollington are going to challenge all the way, if Paddock want to be there with them, Saturday’s match is a big one – a must win.

The match is kicking off at 1PM from JMO Sports Park.

Match Report – Mersey Valley VS Stretford Paddock

04/08/2022

6:30PM K.O.

Mersey Valley Sports Club

Wednesday evening was a frustrating one for Stretford Paddock as they left Mersey Valley with a 2-2 draw. Despite a domineering second half display, a blend of good Mersey Valley defending and plenty of missed chances from Paddock meant that both teams would go home sharing the points.

Both teams started the game strong both playing with good technical football at a high intensity. Stretford Paddock debutant, Dom Molloy, started strong, often finding his brother out on the wing with a handful accurate long-range passes. It was Mersey Valley however, who had the better start.

In the 11th minute, Mersey Valley sent a long throw into the box which was met by a teammate. Left unchallenged, the Mersey Valley player headed the ball nicely past Paddock’s Kian Pearce in net to put the home side ahead.

Stretford Paddock responded well to going 1-0 down as a flurry of chances followed. A break from Will Hobson down the left-hand side saw the left back drag his shot wide. Paddock also got the ball into dangerous areas behind the Mersey Valley defence, but nobody was on the end of Kieran Molloy’s crosses.

The game then slowed down for a period but in the latter stages of the half, the new man Dom found himself with the ball on the edge of the penalty area. Dom elegantly slotted the ball across the keeper and into the bottom corner to level things up.

HT: Mersey Valley FC 1-1 Stretford Paddock FC

The first 5 minutes of the second half was all Mersey Valley. Paddock hadn’t got out of the blocks yet when they lost the ball cheaply in their own half. The ball was collected by a Mersey Valley player who took on a long-range strike which looped over the Kian Pearce’s head and into the back of the net, 2-1.

After the slow start, Paddock settled back into the swing of things again and slowly began to take control of the game. Yet, it was the last half hour of the game where Paddock really had Mersey Valley up against the wall. Plenty of chances were squandered and a hand full of penalty shouts were waved away by the referee.

After an injury to striker Tom Jones, Joao de Andrade came back off the bench and bagged a much-needed equaliser. In the 78th minute, some good link up play between Joao and Nosa Iyamu saw find himself one-on-one with the keeper. The ball was finished into the bottom corner to level things up once again.

The last 10 minutes panned out the same as the previous 20. Paddock mounting attack after attack onto the Mersey Valley defenders who kept them out. In the 89th minute, the ball fell to the feet of Joao again who sent the ball wide of an almost open net.

FT: Mersey Valley FC 2-2 Stretford Paddock FC

Stretford Paddock FC: Kian Pearce, Will Hobson (61’ Michael Burke), Thomas MacFarlane (78’ Aftab Jan), James Oatt (C), Ryan Pickering, Dominic Molloy (40’ GOAL), Nosa Iyamu, John Ogo (46’ Kayode Adewale), Tom Jones (61’ Joao de Andrade), Joao de Andrade (78’ GOAL) (46’ Ronaldo Brown), Kieron Molloy (94’ Conor Knowles)
