Paddock bounce back from first defeat: Stretford Paddock 2-0 Hartford FC

Stretford Paddock bounced back from their first defeat of the season, with a 2-0 victory against Hartford FC.

Following last week’s unfortunate abandonment of our trip to Moore United, Paddock returned home to the Butchers Arms Ground which they lost to Mersey Valley the last time out.

The opening stages of the game saw Paddock dominate the ball and play through the wings with quick interchanges, despite this they failed to create any clear cut chances.

The dominance of the ball soon came to fruition as Paddock opened the scoring on the stroke of the ten-minute mark.

Gavin Salmon with his back to goal in the box was looking to create a space and as the striker was tackled, the ball fell kindly to full back Mikey Burke on the edge of the area. an audacious effort with a right footed strike saw the ball rifle into the top right corner of the net.

Midway through the first half, Paddock had a penalty claim turned down as winger Ronaldo Brown surged down the left side, before angling his run inside towards the goal. Only to be tackled by the Hartford centre half and any appeals immediately waved away.

A last-minute change to the starting line-up saw 18-year-old Ellis Pacer come into the XI for a full debut.

The debutant, who won man of the match, impressed in the first half controlling possession and building play from midfield.

Following a quick interchange with Salmon on the right side, the young midfielder picked out Ronaldo on the edge of the box with a cut back to the edge of the box. His shot was parried by the Hartford keeper and with Pacer rushing for a rebound the ball ricocheted off his shin agonisingly wide.

With three minutes to go before the break, Hartford was reduced to ten men with a player sin binned following dissent towards the referee.

Paddock looked to capitalise on a man advantage and double their lead. Although, when the ball fell to Pacer outside the box his low strike was well blocked out for a corner.

Half Time: Stretford Paddock 1-0 Hartford FC

At the start of the second half still with a man advantage, quick passing saw a chance open up for Joao De Andrade on the edge of the area, however his right footed strike flew well over the crossbar.

On the hour mark Joao picked up the ball on the left side and drove into the box before being brought down, giving paddock the chance to double their lead.

Birthday boy Nosa Iyamu stepped up, and with the keeper rooted to his spot, the ball was smashed to the right side of the goal.

Following second half substitutions Pacer was moved to right back, where he played for 20 minutes before being subbed off, the debutant almost helped himself to an assist with a sumptuous  through ball towards Salmon although the stiker blasted his shot straight at the keeper on a narrow angle.

Gabriel Fernando came on late in the second half for his for his debut in his second spell at the club. In the closing stages the striker nearly sealed off the win as Ronaldo fed him in on the left his shot drifted over.

Gabby then had one final chance when Burke flashed a cross in front of goal to the far post and the striker couldn’t reach it to tap in.

PREVIEW: Stretford Paddock vs Hartford FC

Stretford Paddock look to bounce back following their first defeat of the season, when they host Hartford FC at the Butcher’s Arms Ground on Saturday.

On the back of last weeks postponed match away to Moore United, Paddocks previous game also being there most recent at home ended in a two-nil defeat to Mersey Valley. Which saw winger Kieron Molloy sent off, who will serve the first of his three-match ban this weekend.

The heavy rain at the weekend saw all but three matches called off, despite this Paddock have slipped to sixth position in the league. As positive results for Lymm Rovers and Haydock FC, who handed league leaders Pilkington u23s their first defeat of the season, leapfrog Paddock. Although paddock hold a number of games in hand over the teams that surround us.

Our opponents sit 14th in the league and are yet to win in the league and sit just above bottom of the table Wigan, by two points with only two draws in eight matches so far in the league.

Omar Sinclair is currently injured and therefore won’t be in the squad. However, the clubs top assist maker and defensive stalwart Mikey Burke, looks set to play against the team which he unlocked last time with some defense splitting passes. There may also be a potential opportunity for Callum Walsh to be in the squad, with a final fitness check taking place before the match.

PREVIEW: Stretford Paddock vs Mersey Valley

Stretford Paddock return to league action this weekend, playing hosts to Mersey Valley in a fixture which finished as a 2-2 draw only a month ago.

Paddock came out victorious in the cup last week after an eight-thriller saw them defeat Denton 6-2. Prior to that, Paddock have beaten Hartford, Moore United, and Wigan since the reverse fixture. Looking to continue their unbeaten start to this season, Paddock have won seven and drawn two, and currently sit third only one point behind Winsford, however still with a game in hand on the team above.

The opposition, meanwhile, occupies ninth place in the league playing two games more than Paddock. Mersey Valley come into the game following back-to-back wins, last week beating Lymm Rover 4-1 after a 12-0 hammering of bottom side Wigan Town.

The reverse fixture saw Paddock twice come from behind to take a point back home. Paddock arguably scored the goal of the game, with a quarter of an hour to go and trailing by two goals to one. Omar Sinclair scored from a free-kick on the left of the D, his whipped effort curled around the wall and into the far top right corner of the net.

The weekend’s clash could throw up some spice following the end of the reverse fixture where things got slightly heated. Dom Molloy was sent off in the reverse match following the full-time whistle when a spectator jumped the fence to bring down the Paddock midfielder, and Dom’s reaction saw him see red for violent conduct, which caused a scuffle between the two sides. Gavin Salmon is also due to return from suspension for this weekend, having seen red in the abandoned game against Haydock.

PREVIEW: Denton Town Res vs Stretford Paddock FC

Stretford Paddock take on Denton Town Reserves in the first round of the FA Manchester Amateur Cup as they look to follow on their good start in the league with a cup run and a chance for potential silverware for Paddock.

Denton, in Reserve League 1, sits third in the table with 16 points after their first eight games. Winning five, drawing one and only losing two is an impressive start to the season that leaves them within touching distance of the top of the table.

Their most recent performance saw them face Crewe Reserves away from home and come out victorious 3-1 over their opponents, who have suffered a poor start to their season.

A tough encounter awaits Paddock, despite the opposition being the division below, with both sides performing positively from the off this season. With three wins from their last three Paddock will be hoping to build on their great start this year with the aim of finding their feet in the cup and searching for silverware. October last season saw Paddock taking on, and beating Denton Town first team in the Manchester Challenge Cup, but a re-working of the qualification rules for the Manchester Cups has seen Stretford Paddock drawn in the Manchester Amateur Cup, this season, ironically drawing Denton Town in the first round, again.

With their second away game in a row, Stretford Paddock are searching for a repeat of their game last time out, winning 4-0 over Hartford with a comfortable victory. A win tomorrow will set Paddock on their way, and allow them to build on their already positive start and spur them on for a cup run which is eagerly anticipated by all involved with the club.

The face-off between the two sides, kicks off at 2pm, at Whittles Park on Saturday 7th October. Entry is free so come along and support the boys in which is hopefully the start of a special cup run in what could be a very special season for Paddock.

Paddock’s unbeaten start continues: Hartford 0-4 Stretford Paddock

Stretford paddock extend their unbeaten start to the league with an impressive 4-0 victory away to Hartford FC, with Joao De Andrade and Jainiero sharing the goals.

Paddock started the game strong and could have scored more had it not been for the woodwork. Five minutes in Victor Iyumva was played the ball on the edge of the box a slight dribble to take the ball on his right foot allowed him a space to take the shot. However, his effort rolled onto the foot of the post.

Paddock then hit the woodwork again, halfway through the first half, Joao picked up a floated through ball on the left and steamed into the box on the left beating his defender. The opportunity opened and his shot rattled the near post to the delight of the Hartford keeper.

The pressure did tell for Paddock and moments later, from a free kick midway into the Hartford half. Joe Coleman’s effort was struck with some power, and the ball bounced just in front of the keeper, his save wasn’t collected and Jainiero pounced on the loose ball to place it into the roof of the net, for his first goal for the club.

Paddock doubled their lead through a swift counter-attack, Mikey Burke picked up the ball on the edge of his own box and drove to the halfway line before sliding the ball through the left for Joao, the midfielder latched onto the pass then guided his shot past the on rushing goalkeeper.

Joao then added his second after Nosa Iyamu picked up the ball in the centre circle, he played it through the Hartford defence and Joao with only the keeper to beat had the composure, to cut inside sit the keeper down, and finish into the empty net.

Hartford’s best chance of the half came from a corner with five minutes left before the break. An outswingng corner was met at the front post and the header from six yards out fell a foot wide.

Half Time: Hartford FC 0-3 Stretford Paddock

Shortly after the break Hartford produced their best effort on goal of the entire game, again from a set piece. This time a free kick from the right-hand side, the cross wasn’t completely dealt with and the clearance was prodded away to the one player lurking outside the area, the effort was stuck on the half volley without any real conviction and the looping effort fell into the hands of the grateful Martin Flanagan.

Joao then missed an opportunity to walk away with the match ball, straight from the Hartford free-kick Martin smashed the ball up field to the left, where Joao ran through yet again and with just the keeper to beat, this time he curled his effort wide of the post.

In a second half where paddock failed to create many clear-cut chances, it took until the 85th minute when Jainiero grabbed the final goal of the game. A free kick just outside the area was struck directly at the wall, and with some good fortune the wall split in two as it jumped and his shot found its way through the gap and into the back of the net.

Joao then had one more chance for a hat-trick in stoppage time. With a free kick in a similar position to that of Jainiero’s. This time the wall stood firm and Joao’s looped effort, which didn’t find a corner, was comfortably collected low down to the keepers right.

Cheshire League Round Up

Football Fanatics, Gather Round!

Another whirlwind of a weekend has just passed in the league, and as always, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.

Our table-toppers, Pilkington U23s, kept their unbeaten run intact, but it was no easy feat against a resilient Mersey Valley side. They nicked a 3-2 victory in what was sounds like the match of the weekend.

Lymm Rovers and Newton-Le-Willows kept their recent momentum going with clean-sheet victories. While Lymm comfortably saw off Haydock FC, Newton made light work of Maine Road Res.

Stretford Paddock FC continues to progress, maintaining our undefeated run with a hard-fought win against Moore United FC. Believe those sorts of wins are called “Championship form”.

However, the show-stopper this weekend was St Helens Town with a jaw-dropping 7-goal demolition of Wigan Town FC.

Finally, Winsford Town FC pulled off a crucial win against West Didsbury & Chorlton Res., adding three more points to their tally.

Looking Ahead:

Midweek sees West Didsbury & Chorlton Res. clashing with a buoyant St Helens Town side – expect fireworks!

The coming weekend is jam-packed with mouth-watering fixtures. Haydock FC will be keen to bounce back against Sandbach Town Ramblers. Stretford Paddock FC, still undefeated, travel to Hartford FC, hoping to keep our streak alive.

Will Wigan Town FC find some form against Mersey Valley? Can Moore United cause an upset against Winsford Town FC? Only time will tell!

League Round-Up: A Week of Shockers and Show-Stealers

Hey everyone, join us as we dissect last weekends weekend’s action and look ahead to tomorrow’s Cheshire League Two fixtures!

Last Week’s Drama

No doubt the biggest jaw-dropper came from the Pilkington U23s who put a double-digit past the Maine Road Res. – proper statement that, isn’t it? They’re not just leading but dominating at the summit with their goal difference skyrocketing.

Lymm Rovers FC, meanwhile, pulled a blinder against Clay Brow FC, silencing them with a clean sheet and a trio of goals. They’re a side with momentum now, and who knows how far up the table they can go?

Down but not out, Newton-Le-Willows gave Mersey Valley a lesson in football with a 4-0 victory, turning a few heads and possibly setting the stage for a fairytale rise through the table.

Lastly, we had West Didsbury & Chorlton Res. running riot against Hartford FC, banging in a handsome five goals to none, a result that nudges them further away from the bottom.

Looking Forward to Next Week’s Clashes

Fasten your seat belts because this week is brimming with fixtures that promise plenty of thrills and possibly a spill or two. Here’s the lowdown:

  • Pilkington U23s vs Mersey Valley: The league leaders are eyeing another win, but could Mersey Valley offer up a surprise? Stranger things have happened!
  • Lymm Rovers FC vs Hartford FC: After a spanking last week, can Hartford pull up their socks and give Lymm a run for their money?
  • Newton-Le-Willows vs Maine Road Res.: Fresh off a dominant win, Newton-Le-Willows will be fancying their chances against a wounded Maine Road side.
  • Stretford Paddock FC vs Moore United FC: With Paddock yet to taste defeat this season, and Moore United have only just started finding their feet with a couple of wins; can they upset the apple cart here?
  • Wigan Town FC vs St Helens Town: Wigan’s got it all to do against a St Helen’s side eyeing those upper slots in the league standings.
  • Winsford Town FC vs West Didsbury & Chorlton Res.: A pivotal game for both sides, with the opportunity to solidify or even improve their positions with a win.

So, there you have it, a sneak peek at the action waiting to unfold. Get the teas in, find a comfy spot, and get ready for another belter of a weekend in the league. Elsewhere we’ve been given our first cup fixture. The first team are disappointed to not be featuring in the Manchester Challenge Trophy, as we did last season, but a change to the leagues which make up qualification has found us seeded in the Manchester Amateur Cup, instead. Last season’s first game saw us put five-goals past Denton Town, and this season we’ve been drawn against Denton Town’s RESERVES – strange decision for us to be in this competition, but one we will endeavour to win!

Come and join us for tomorrow’s fixture against Moore United, at the Butchers Arms!

REPORT: TEK United 2-3 Stretford Paddock

Stretford Paddock FC embarked on their inaugural international fixture on a memorable Saturday, August 5th, 2023, making their way to Dublin, Ireland to face off against TEK United. The match garnered immense support, with approximately 200 passionate fans in attendance, including The Paddock Ultras, Howson’s Red & White Army, and the Stretford Paddock FC Irish Supporters Club, whose flags proudly waved together, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Initially scheduled at TEK United’s ground, Rockford Park, the match faced uncertainty due to heavy overnight rainfall, rendering the pitch unplayable after an early inspection. However, a new venue was swiftly arranged at Soldier and Sailors Park, just a short distance away. Miraculously, the pitch there remained untouched by the weather and was in pristine condition for the game.

The match kicked off shortly after 3pm, and despite TEK United being completely unknown to Paddock, the opening minutes were cautious as our team assessed the level of opposition before them. TEK United showcased their skill and pace, leaving no room for complacency. An early free-kick opportunity outside the box tested Paddock’s defence, with the TEK player hitting the post, much to the relief of our lads.

17 minutes into the game Kieron Molloy pulled up with a hamstring injury, just days after his brother had the same problem in the victory over West Didsbury & Chorlton. An injury which might keep him out for a few weeks – we’ll have to see how he goes. Two goals in two could be missed at the weekend. He was replaced by Joao on the left wing.

Shortly after that it didn’t take long for Paddock to assert their dominance and Joao to make an impact. A well-executed long throw from Omar, starting deep within his own half, created space behind the TEK defence, allowing Joao to deliver a perfect ball into the area for Ryan Katumba to calmly slot home, granting us an early advantage.

Moments later, Paddock further solidified their lead when Oattsy, the captain, skillfully converted a corner, creating a beautiful curling shot that found the far top corner of the net. The goal might have appeared unintentional to some, but Oattsy reckons otherwise – let us know what you think when the highlights are out!

With a 2-0 lead, Paddock began to play with more confidence and control, with some confident possession, mainly via Nosa and Kayode in midfield. Nosa’s brilliant footwork set up Callum for the third goal, as he broke through the offside trap and finished with a beautiful first-time finish. The first half ended with a flurry of shots that failed to find the target, but Paddock firmly in control, leading 3-0.

The second half brought a momentary lapse in concentration for Paddock, leading to two goals for TEK United, reminding the lads that no game can be taken for granted. Reenergized and refocused, Paddock regained their composure and reverted to their usual aggressive dominate style, delivering a captivating display of quick passes, off-the-ball runs, and well-timed attacks.

The match could have seen more goals for Paddock, particularly from the right side, where Callum built on his lethal first half performance and repeatedly found himself in acres of space and looking the most likely source of a goal. The TEK United keeper’s impressive saves kept his team in contention. As the game neared its conclusion, with TEK United players visibly fatigued, McKenna, unfortunately, sustained a hamstring injury, leading to captain James Oatt taking on the goalkeeper role for the remaining minutes. The third time he’s done this, and he’s never conceded!

Adam McKola made his erm, shortly awaited, debut on the 85th minute and had the chance to put the game to bed in the 89th minute – but fluffed his lines! Must see in the highlights!

The final whistle blew, and Stretford Paddock emerged triumphant with a 3-2 victory. The match proved to be a resounding success, showcasing a thrilling encounter and a positive result for Paddock. The warm welcome and hospitality extended by TEK United and Brian from the Irish Supporters Club made the entire experience even more memorable, leaving us with much to be thankful for.
